All-inclusive resorts are a cost-effective and a relatively easy to plan travel option for families. But committing to one resort for every single meal can be a little stressful. Here are some tips to consider:
- Before putting a deposit down, ask your travel agent for copies of restaurant menus. Especially if a guest in your party has specific dietary needs!
- Ask for the open/close times of each restaurant for the actual dates of your travel. A resort we went to had a few nights where all restaurants were closed aside from buffet. Not the end of the world, but the lack of flexibility wasn’t ideal.
- Develop a dinner schedule and book reservations before you get to the resort (if the option exists)! Most travelers will wait until they check-in and then you might get stuck with odd times—less than ideal when you have kiddos with you!
- Make sure you understand which restaurants are included in your all-inclusive package. Some resorts have cash pay restaurants that aren’t covered—which isn’t a bad thing—but just make sure you don’t lock yourself into a resort with minimal “free” options!
- If dining at the buffet, take items to go for the kiddos to snack on during times when restaurants are closed! Fruits, pastries, etc. can help bridge the gap between meals.
