About Me:
I’m Tim Jones, a married dad to two little dudes. As many of you who are reading this site, we try to journey as often as we can, but with two working parents in our fam, it can be challenging to find the time to find the time to plan travel. That’s why this site exists. I’m here to give you travel destination recommendations and tips for realistic family travel. We aren’t people who quit their jobs to travel the globe with their kids or millionaires who have an unlimited budget.
Meet the Crew:
- Tim: When we’re not traveling, I’m oversee marketing at a hospital system in Central New Jersey and helping to keep our kiddos in line and on-time (the latter being close to impossible). I also love me some trash TV (real men love Bravo). My wife and I share the travel planning duties, but I’m famous for my spreadsheets featuring restaurants, and “things to do” lists. I’m a master of dad jokes, love the Jacksonville Jaguars and am jammed full of useless trivia.
- Kelly: My better half. When we’re not traveling, she’s a registered dietitian, consultant/spokesperson who keeps our family’s ship on course. As smart and loving as she is beautiful, she’s the undisputed champion of packing suitcases Tetris-style.
- Cooper (AKA Big Bro, Coop, Coopie and a bunch of random, nonsensical names that I’ve created over the years): This guy has never met a beach he hasn’t liked. He will literally cake himself with sand and create a game using rocks and random toys to keep himself entertained. When he’s slept enough and eats meals/snacks that we swear he’ll enjoy, he’s an easy travel partner!
- Carter (AKA Little Bro, Cartie and…a bunch of random, nonsensical names that I’ve created over the years): Like his big bro, he loves the beach. And is in his “parrot” stage of life where he repeats anything his big bro says or does. He’s a happy little dude and an early riser (aside from when we traveled to California recently, where he would sleep in until 8 am west coast time!).
Why Cool Fam Travels? Life with my family is a bit like a sitcom on the road, and I’m here to share the laughter and lessons we’ve picked up along the way. On this blog, you’ll find:

- Tips and Tricks: Kelly and I work together to keep us organized, and I’ll share our secrets to family travel success. We’ve learned how to pack light (mostly), keep the kids entertained (mostly), and find those hidden gems that make every trip memorable.
- Kid-Friendly Reviews: Cooper and Cater are our pint-sized critics. We’ll tell you all about the best (and sometimes the worst) family-friendly destinations, restaurants, and activities.
- Dad Jokes Galore: Because what’s a dad blog without a plethora of puns and knee-slappers? Get ready to groan and giggle simultaneously.
